The Middleton Family at the New York World’s Fair

For your entertainment over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we have a treat for you: the full version of Westinghouse’s promotional film “The Middleton Family at the New York World’s Fair”!

In this video, you can see some of the spectacular displays within the Westinghouse pavilion in New York, including the Time Capsule, Elektro the Moto-Man, and the dishwashing battle between Mrs. Modern and Mrs. Drudge.

Some of these scenes were excerpted as historic footage within our Designing Tomorrow exhibition, but there’s a lot more to it, including a romantic competition between Jim, the all-American Westinghouse engineer, and Nicholas, the anti-capitalist abstract art professor. Will capitalism or communism win the heart of Babs, our heroine? Only Westinghouse knows!
